A month later an 11th hour entry was made to a competition run by the Co-op. The prize was a make-over of an area of land with pollinator friendly plants. WE WON! wE CHOSE THE 10X4m Area around the new wooden sign.

Plantlife is overseeing the work. Fiest of all the bramble has to be sprayed out and the area rotavated. In the Autumn, we need volunteers to help plant and sow pollinator friendly plants and seeds, and again in the spring.

A place for reptiles to keep warm

Slate pile

In addition a couple of insect hotels will be put up and possibly a bat hibernaculum, together with a slate pile for cold blooded creatures to bask on.

By the summer of 2014 we hope the area will be awash with wild flowers and humming with bees and other pollinators.
