Bloom Park improvements lead to research
In 2014 a local group began working with Slough Borough Council on improvements to Bloom Park. The new pathways through the park and improved access points to the canal are products of this work. There was also funding to provide some new information boards.
Surplus of historical information
A Slough Borough Council officer was allocated a little time to bring together whatever information was available on the local canal's history and heritage. An appeal went out to anyone with knowledge or a story to tell. This research yielded a considerable surplus of information for which there is inadequate space on the planned information boards. This has lead to the creation of an 'on line museum' - a set of web pages from which readers can access not only the finished boards when not on the field, but additional background information on the Slough Canal and local history.
